Yandina Markets & a tribe of Gorillas
We reached a milestone this week, taking Vanilla Gorilla to the markets…a cold, dark mid winters morning…rain looking ominous…we arrived at Yandina just on 5 am to a hive of activity & a sea of Marquees. It was a buzz to finally be there and I had to calm my breath to settle those “putting it out there” nerves that were wanting to bubble to the surface…I’d been up since 2, with those last minute , do I have everything I might need thoughts that wouldn’t let me sleep.
My wonderful wingman, Carey was finishing a long weeks work, to get very little sleep as well , before helping me set up… we really weren’t sure where to go, and it seemed like an impossible task to find the one man there who could help us…so we put ourselves near the trees…in proper Gorilla territory, next to the Zen Thai massage tent…where the energy felt calm & divine… the sweet girls there helping us to work out where we could go..🙏🙏🙏
It was soo much fun, my body has a few aches that I haven’t felt for a while, the people who run that market are soo very kind…the stall holders I met, very welcoming, and our sweet neighbourhood friend was helping to make sure we get a bit closer to the market goers for next time, thanks Maree!
All in all, we had a blast…and managed to sell some soap & natural products …I had taken way too much stock…but I was in my element, getting to chat to lovely humans about all things natural…getting back to nature is our only way forward…like Koko said ‘ I am flowers, animals…I am nature...man, man Koko love, earth Koko love, but man stupid, Koko sorry, Koko cry, time hurry...fix earth!' ...the wisest of words signed by Koko, a western lowland Gorilla born in captivity in the San Fransisco Zoo, living from 1971 - 2018 in both the Zoo and the Santa Cruz Mountains Preserve. Backwards is forwards, its Vanilla Gorilla’s moto…we have everything we need to live in harmony with nature…we just need to check in on our habits which are not in tune with our planet or the wild life who also inhabit here..or this planet will make sure we are no longer here to keep destroying it.
